LaLiga seeks fans’ help to report racism after latest Vinicius Jr abuse

Vinicius was once again subjected to racial insults during Real Madrid’s loss to Barcelona in the ‘Clasico’ on Sunday.

The soccer organization LaLiga has announced the establishment of a complaints channel on its website. The channel is designed to allow fans to assist in identifying instances of racism that occur during matches. This decision was made after LaLiga filed its eighth complaint to the authorities regarding the mistreatment of Real Madrid forward, Vinicius Jr.

Vinicius, who represents Brazil internationally, criticized LaLiga for its inaction concerning racist fans. Videos circulated on social media in December showing supporters verbally abusing and throwing objects at him during a match.

During Real’s recent defeat to Barcelona, Vinicius once again experienced racial insults.

LaLiga released a statement saying, “In view of the events that took place (during the game), in which intolerable racist behavior was once again observed against Vinicius Jr, LaLiga has reported the racist insults to the Barcelona Court of Instruction.”

LaLiga has taken steps to expedite the identification of offenders by creating a complaints channel on its website. This channel permits fans with information or any indication of the identity of the perpetrators to contact LaLiga and provide the necessary identification for filing relevant complaints.

Earlier this week, Mallorca FC revoked a fan’s membership card for three years after the individual directed racist insults towards Vinicius Jr. and Villarreal’s Samu Chukwueze in February.
